A creative challenge game that uses randomized prompts, constraints, and time pressure to help you push past creative blocks and produce your best work — on demand.
Design Unblocked is part game, part creative workout. Every session is different — you never know what prompt or constraint you'll receive, and that's the point.
By combining structured randomness with time pressure, Design Unblocked forces your brain out of its comfortable patterns. No more staring at a blank canvas waiting for inspiration. Instead, you're given a direction, a challenge, and a clock — and you make it work.
Whether you're a graphic designer warming up for the day, a UX designer sharpening your thinking, or a student building your portfolio, Design Unblocked gives you a repeatable system for creative growth.
Every Design Unblocked session follows a structured flow designed to maximize creative output and minimize overthinking.
Launch the app and spin the difficulty spinner. Land on Easy, Normal, or Hard — each mode has its own prompt pool and timer. You don't choose; the wheel does.
A random design prompt is drawn from your difficulty-specific pool. It could be a brand, a campaign, a product, or a concept — all calibrated to the chosen level.
A random constraint is layered on top of your prompt. Constraints add creative tension — think: "use only two colors," "no rounded corners," or "retro aesthetic only."
Before the timer starts, you have 5–10 minutes to research. Look up references, gather inspiration, plan your approach. Use the time wisely — the clock is coming.
The countdown begins. Design within your time limit — Easy gets the most time, Hard the least. A sound notification signals when time is up. Pause only if you must.
Photo your work or upload a file. Write optional reflections. Your session — prompt, constraint, difficulty, and time — is saved to your personal Logbook for review.
The spinner chooses for you — but knowing what each difficulty brings helps you understand what you're in for. Every level is a genuine challenge.
Prompts are concrete and approachable — real-world briefs with clear goals. Great for building momentum, warming up your tools, or learning the game. Constraints are still present, but more flexible.
Prompts require creative decisions and trade-offs. Constraints tighten the frame. This is the core experience — challenging enough to push you, structured enough to keep you moving.
Abstract prompts, strict constraints, and less time. Hard mode is for designers who want to stress-test their thinking and work under pressure. Expect ambiguity — that's intentional.
Every session you complete gets saved to your personal Logbook — a growing archive of your creative work and growth over time.
Take a photo or upload a file of your completed design. Your work lives alongside the brief that inspired it.
Write optional notes per entry — what worked, what didn't, what you'd do differently next time.
Each entry stores difficulty, prompt, constraint, time limit, and time taken — the full picture of every session.
After saving, jump straight into a new session or browse past entries to see how far you've come.
